The Spine of the Sun Where Light Breaks Open Act: I
I crave depth,
I speak in echoes,
throwing my thoughts into the void,
but all I hear is static—
scrolling, scrolling, scrolling past.
The sun cracks open the sky like a golden egg,
spilling fire across the mountain’s spine.
Palm fronds, wild and untamed,
stretch their fingers toward the burnished light,
like I do—newborn, reaching, alive.
I have shed the skin of yesterday,
ash swirling, dissolving in the ember breeze.
The saguaros rise, unwavering,
etched against the dawn’s gilded fire—
and I rise with them.
This is my beginning, written in light,
rooted in the earth that called me home.
The desert hums a message in my ear,
A promise of new beginnings lingers near.
A monument of a phoenix in flight,
a soul unbound, standing tall,
This is the right place,
so it’s meant to be.
