My Voice Is Not Silence (act iv)
They told me to hush,
to shrink, to fold myself small.
From childhood to marriage,
from classrooms to paychecks,
I learned that silence was safer
than a voice no one wanted to hear.
So I swallowed my thoughts,
let them echo inside my ribs,
a storm caged in my chest,
a fire denied air.
They do not know what it means
to carry an ocean inside your head,
to see the world as a tapestry
where every thread connects,
where patterns emerge before they are spoken.
They call it overthinking.
I call it seeing.
I feel the absence in the room,
the weight of words unsaid.
I know when you are present,
and when you only pretend to be.
I have lived in my mind so long
that I built entire worlds there.
I speak in visions,
in colors that language cannot hold,
in poetry that was always inside me—
only waiting for the lock to break.
I was never meant to be silent.
I was meant to spill over,
to flood the page, to drown indifference,
to stand among the rebels,
the ones who refuse to bow.
You will not scroll past me.
You will not drown me out.
I have seen the darkness,
felt its weight, walked its depths.
But it did not take me.
And now—
now I write in fire.
Now I speak, and the world listens.
Now, my voice is not silence.
I rise where the desert meets the sky,
where the sun cracks the earth open,
where the Phoenix is born in flame.
This voice is mine to carry,
forged in heat, unshaken by the wind,
a testament to all that tried to break me.
This is my voice.
And it will never be silent again.
